Harold M. Burnette, age 89, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born April 1, 1932, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Harbert H. Burnette and Lois Dove Burnette. Harold was married for 72 wonderful years to Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Jarrard Burnette until her death on January 25, 2022. Harold was a long-time faithful member of First Baptist Church Anderson where he retired as the building superintendent and also served as the church bus driver. In his early days, Harold worked in textiles and owned his own company installing floor coverings. In his spare time, he loved to fish. He is survived by his children, Elander Phillips (Thomas), Tony Burnette (Becky), and Jeff Burnette (Solange); 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Perry Jay Burnette; and sisters, Louise Burgess, Jessie Mae Evans, Florence Ashworth, Ruby Timmerman, and Nellie Jordan. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 2:30-3:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:30 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Dr. Josh Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Anderson, 307 S. Manning St., Anderson, SC 29624.
