Harold Lloyd Carnes, 78, of Anderson died on his birthday Wednesday, August 15, 2018. He was born in Anderson to the late Mac Loyd and Winnie Walls Carnes. He was preceded in death by his brother Fred D. Brock and his sister Mrs. Joyce Carnes Jordan. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Darla Nottingham Carnes and two children: Mrs. Teresa Dyar (James) of Seneca, SC and Mr. Brett Lloyd Carnes (Wendy) of Simpsonville, SC. He emphasized the importance of family, which also includes 5 grandchildren; Mrs. Hannah Dyar Barkley (Matthew), Mr. Jared Dyar (Lori), Miss Bethany Dyar, Miss Margaret Carnes, and Miss Rebecca Carnes. He was thrilled to also spend time with his 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Mr. Gary Carnes (Sue) of Anderson and brother-in-law Mr. James Jordan. He was a graduate of Boys High in Anderson and later served in the U. S. Navy. He returned to Anderson where he worked for The Singer Co. Later, he became a Master Deputy for the Anderson County Sheriff's Department and even after retirement always found part time work to keep him busy. He loved music and sang bass and traveled with the Christian Singers and also was a faithful member of the Varennes Heights Baptist Church choir for decades. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:30pm, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Varennes Heights Baptist Church, 411 Visage Drive, Anderson, SC. The funeral service with military honors will follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. James Dyar and Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. A private family committal service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Varennes Heights Child Development Center, 440 Masters Blvd., Anderson, SC 29626 or the charity of your choice.
