Clinkscales, age 81, of 2414 Smith McGee Road passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at his residence.Born April 15, 1927 in Starr, he was a son of the late Harold & Lila Harris Clinkscales. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocational Agriculture Education from Clemson College. Also he served in the US Army Reserves, and after twenty-two years of service Mr. Clinkscales retired as a Lt. Colonel. Mr. Clinkscales retired after thirty-years as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher from the State of South Carolina Public School System ' having taught at Cleveland High School in Oconee County, Calhoun Falls High School, and Crescent High School. With a lifelong agriculture and farming career, Mr. Clinkscales was a recipient of numerous merits and awards ' namely the Honorary State Farmers Degree, Honorary American Farmers Degree, Teacher of Teachers Award, and the Anderson County's Conservation Teacher of the Year Award. He also served on numerous boards including the Southern States Cooperative and the Grove Fire Department. In addition, he was a member of the Crescent Young Farmers Chapter. While a resident of Oconee County, he was a member of Madison Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Church Treasurer. He is a member of Starr Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Joanne Smith Clinkscales, of the home; and their children: Harold S. Clinkscales and wife, Rita of Starr, Barbara Aboualy and friend, Mark of Piedmont, Rosalyn Price and husband, Lee of Iva, Suzanne Hendrix and husband, John of Starr, Angela Moore and husband, Ronald of Hartwell, and Brian Clinkscales and wife, Jennifer of Iva; his sisters: Barbara Huddle of New Bern, NC and Melanie Buscovich of Alexandria, VA; his uncle, Reid Harris of Knoxville, TN; fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to Mr. Clinkscales parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Joan Clinkscales and two brothers, Alvin Dean Clinkscales and John Milton Clinkscales.PAGE TWO: OBITUARY FOR HAROLD S. CLINKSCALES, STARR, SCThe Funeral Service will be at 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Starr Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Tony Howell and the Reverend Sam Duncan. Interment will follow in the Starr Baptist Church Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Jack B. Lyles, Richard Mattox, Thomas P. McGee, Joe Sherer, Marshall P. Watt, Jr., and Stan Keaton.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2008.
