Obituary

HAROLD COPE Harold William Cope of 804 Parkwood Drive passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Rainey Hospice House on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Born in Central, he was the son of Mrs. Mollie Peyton Cope of Central, and the late Hovey W. Cope. Harold was retired from a life-long career in automotive sales. As a hobby, he loved to collect and sell classic cars. He was a faithful member of Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors include his devoted wife and best friend, Libby Evans Cope of the residence; a sister, Susan Cope Cox of Seneca; a niece, Lea Cox Holder and her husband, Jay, and a great-nephew, Jackson Holder, all of Greenville. A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor the life of Harold Cope will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 2 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Shawn Armstrong officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home following the service from 2:30 PM until 4 PM. The family suggests that donations in memory of Mr. Cope may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 5708 Hwy. 187, Anderson, SC 29625; or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
