Harold Major Cowart, age 85, of 2611 Linmar Circle, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson on December 22, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph L. Cowart and the late Beatrice Gary Cowart. For sixty-two years he was the loving and devoted husband of Fay Elizabeth Cowart of the home. Mr. Cowart was a graduate of Anderson Boys' High School, after which he proudly served his country in the US Army with the Antiaircraft Gun Battalion. He was retired from Woodside Haynesworth Plant Shop where he was an electrician. Harold was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church where he was active as long as health permitted. In addition to his beloved wife, Lib, Mr. Cowart is survived by a brother, Lawton L. Cowart of LaGrange, GA; a sister, Brenda Gail Thrasher and her husband, Jackie, of Lincolnton, NC; also surviving are a number of very dear nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cowart was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph L. Cowart, Jr. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. James Strickland and Rev. William B. French officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, August 10, 2015, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Flowers are optional and contributions in memory of Mr. Harold Cowart may be made to Homeland Park Baptist Church, 3010 Abbeville Highway, Anderson, SC 29624; or to Richard M.
