Dean was a graduate of Boys' High School, Class of 1956. He served in the United States Navy Reserves. He disc-jockeyed for WANS Radio in 1955 for the Program 'Dancing in the Dark.' He was an amateur radio operator, now Silent Key, W4IHK. He retired from the F.B.I. after 35 years of service, headquartered in Washington, DC. He was a member of Groveton Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA and a former member of Orrville Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Peggy Joyce Chastain Craft of the home; daughter, Karen Michele Craft Turner and her husband, Brett of Charlottesville, VA; son, Christopher Alan Craft and his wife, Jeannie of Mims, FL; three grandchildren, Karin Chastain Turner, Candace Renee Craft and Cody Alan Craft. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Gambrell.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Dr. Wendell Bannister. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.Flowers are optional.
