Leslie Harold Dean, age 90, of Taylors, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the home of his son.

Born August 3, 1933, in Buckhannon, WV, he was a son of the late Oran Dean and Hilton Virigina Westfall Dean. He was married to Evelyn Mae Heavner Dean until her death in 2018. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Dean.

Harold was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving as a guided missileman during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner of a real estate business and a home builder. He also enjoyed his job at A-Beka Book Company. He was a member of Faith Free Presbyterian Church in Greenville.

He is survived by his sons, Steven Dean (Joy) of Indianapolis, IN, James Dale Dean (Elisa) of Anderson, SC; daughters, Virginia Vernon (William) of Pearl River, LA, and Cheryl Dean Headley (Lee) of Taylors, SC; brother, Donald Dean (Sylvia); sister, Margaret Ann Miller; 12 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 12:30-1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Mike Hawkins officiating. A private committal will be held at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
