FRANKS June 22, 1925 - November 13, 2006 ANDERSON, SCMr. Harold Edward Franks died Monday, November 13, 2006 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC following a long courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.He was born June 22, 1925 in Anderson and was the son of the late E. H. and Pauline Gilreath Franks. Mr. Franks served his country as a Bosons Mate, Second Class with the United States Navy during World War II. He was retired from Daniel Construction where he was a Superintendent for new building. Mr. Franks was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church.He is survived by Hazel S. Coward, his best friend who was his fianc' and the love of his life, companion for many years, and caregiver. He became an important member of Hazel's family and called them his own family. They include daughters, Sonja C. Sokol and husband, Ed of Starr; Connie C. Goforth and husband, Ken of Anderson; grandchildren, Jonathon Sokol and wife, Karen of Atlanta; Casey Sokol and wife, Allison of Belton; Heath Goforth and wife, K. C. of Iva; Cy Goforth and wife, Farrah of Charleston; Kari Green of Anderson. He was affectionately known as Grandpa Harold to Dominic Green of Anderson; C. J. and Hannah Goforth of Charleston. Harold enjoyed traveling with Hazel, refurbishing old cars and tractors and being with Hazel and their family.Mr. Franks was predeceased by his son, Bobby E. Franks. However Bobby's daughter, Jody and his son, also called Bobby survive him. He was also predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Ilene M. Franks; brothers, James P. Franks, Milfred E. Franks and Billy E. Franks and sister, Hazel Hawkings.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Kirk Mitchell and the Reverend Furman Martin. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.
