HAROLD HUFF William Harold Huff, Sr., age 90, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at his home in Anderson. Born in Elbert County, GA on February 15, 1925, he was the son of the late Howell S. Huff and the late Pearl Mercer Huff. For 51 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Margaret Patterson Huff until her death in 2006. Mr. Huff was a graduate of Anderson Boy's High School and was of the Baptist faith. He proudly served his country in the US Army where he was deployed in several theaters of operation during WW II. Mr. Huff was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargeant, having earned several medals of honor including, the distinguished Unit Badge G 344, Hq 43rd Div 19, APT Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Huff was a retired police officer for the City of Anderson Police Department where he served the City for 31 years. Survivors include a son, William Harold "Hal" Huff, Jr. and his wife, Mary Beth of Starr; two daughters, Lori Herring of Anderson, and Lisa Brown and husband, Tim, of Iva; a brother, Curtis Huff of Cheney, WA; and 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, and his wife, Margaret, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy, Howell, Jr., Melvin and Pete Huff; a sister, Betty Bane; a son-in-law, Jack Herring; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Motes. A service to celebrate and honor the life of Officer Harold Huff will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Ed Hunsinger and Rev. Bill Rigsby officiating, and Honorary Rites provided by the Anderson Police Department. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, March 9, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, in memory of Harold and Margaret Huff, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
