Simpson and Manilla Dixon Simpson. He retired from Riverside, Saco-Lowell & John D. Hollingsworth Companies as a Textile Specialist. He was a member of the Ruff Masonic Lodge. He was a charter member of Forest Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, assistant treasurer and sound system operator. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy 'Dot' Franklin Simpson of the home; sons, Freddy Simpson and his wife, Teresa of Villa Rica, GA and Ken Simpson and his wife, Teresa of Shelby, NC; sisters, Gertrude Childers and Margaret Webb, both of Anderson; three grandchildren, Shane Simpson of Conyers, GA, Jeremy Simpson and Chris Simpson of Shelby, NC and a great-grandson, Damian Simpson of Conyers, GA. He is also survived by his special extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Bill and Ernest Simpson.The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Forest Hill Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Harvey Hughes and Reverend Ralph Carter. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mr. Simpson will be placed in the church at 1:30 pm on Sunday.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional.
