HARRIET EVANGELINE HANSEN MYERS
April 6, 1920 - January 28, 2013
ANDERSON, SC
Harriet Evangeline Hansen Myers was born to Hans and Anna Hansen, originally from Denmark. She was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Chicago, graduated from high school a year early and trained to be a nurse. She married Ernest Myers of Hartwell, Georgia and moved to Anderson, SC. In the 1950's Harriet and Ernest opened the Ranch House Restaurant on Highway 29 South and served the best barbeque in the state for over thirty years.
She was an avid gardener, enjoyed swimming, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) group of Anderson for over twenty years and successfully achieved KOPS merit standing for over ten years. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, reading, all forms of needlework and believed staying busy keeps one out of trouble. Harriet was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.
Preceding her in death are her late husband and, Ernest and son, Richard.
She enjoyed her three grandchildren; Bimini Myers Wideman of Winston-Salem, NC, Leigh Myers Swain of Atlanta, GA, and Erik Myers of Anderson, SC; she has three great-grandchildren, Ryan Wideman of Winston-Salem, NC, Casey Partain of Anderson, SC and Sadie Swain of Wilmington, NC; and two great-great grandchildren, Kaylee Ingram of Rural Hall, NC and Emry Partain of Anderson, SC. She leaves many close friends and beloved family members who were honored and privileged to have shared her life. We will miss her deeply.
A Celebration of her life will take place at Mountain Creek Baptist Church on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Ray Thompson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her remembrance to the Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
