Harriet Marie Golden Partain, of Starr, SC, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Partain was born on November 3, 1947, in Newberry, SC. She was the daughter of the late Harry Steward Golden and Barnette Adams Golden.

She was a member of Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, not only was she a good listener for her family members, but for their friends as well. She cared for and comforted others through her career as a nurse in Oncology and Mental Health for many years.

Marie enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, and she was an excellent writer. She has had several poems published over the years. More than anything else, she loved God and her family.

She and her husband, Wendell Partain, would have celebrated 59 years together on July 29, 2024. He has been the love of her life since the day they met at church when they were in high school. They have three children together, and they were her heart. She and Wendell have always encouraged them and let them know how proud they are of them. They have instilled in them Christian values and the importance of prayer. She consistently had a smile on her face when in the presence of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her devoted husband, Wendell Partain, her children, Wendy Forrester of Starr, SC, Jerry (Jessica) Partain of Anderson, SC, and Beth (Allen) Waters of Williamston, SC. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Morgan (Kelly) Forrester of Charleston, SC, Kendell (Tito Pravia) Partain of Anderson, SC, Jess (Alyssa Barnes) Partain of Honea Path, SC, Ally (Thomas) Beauford of Abbeville, SC, and Josi Waters of Williamston, SC, five great grandchildren, Avery and Alex Kinney, Lillian Barnette Forrester, Easton and Jeslynn Partain, a sister, Kristie (Grady) Haltiwanger of Blythewood, SC, a sister in law, Trudy Partain of Anderson, SC, 6 nephews and many special friends, especially Glynda Davis, Sandra Metcalfe, Jettie Ann Smith, and Delores Stewart who have helped care for and comfort the family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her parents in law, Haskell and Louise White Partain, a grandson, Jay Partain, a brother, Ernie Golden, a sister, Nita Lynn Golden, sisters in law, Betty Duncan, and Joyce Rowland, brothers in law, Haskell Partain, Jr., Carl Duncan, and Roy Rowland.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45 pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel at the funeral home.
