MURDOCKMAY 27, 1924 - FebrUARY 17, 2009BELTON, SC ' Harry Saylors Murdock, age 84, of 2511 Due West Highway, Belton, SC, died February 17, 2009, at his residence.Born in Anderson County on May 27, 1924, he was the son of the late Harold Steven Murdock and Elma Saylors Murdock. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Upon graduation from Clemson University, he became an instructor of agriculture for veterans at Belton High School. He and his Dad operated Murdock's General Store at Saylor's Crossroads (now Grits and Groceries) and he also farmed. In 1982, he opened the Murdock Nationwide Insurance Agency in Belton where he worked with his son until retiring in 2000. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II.Survivors include his wife, Jean Burton Murdock of the home; son, Harry Steven Murdock of the home; and daughter, Melissa Murdock Fisher and husband, Ron Fisher of Columbia, SC; sister, Johnnye Uldrick and husband, Paul Uldrick of Raleigh, NC, and their daughter, Jann-Paul Uldrick of Raleigh, NC.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jan Murdock.His family would especially like to praise God and give thanks for the love and compassion shown by the Mt. Bethel Church community, the Agape Hospice Staff, and Dr. Harry Geisberg and Staff during his illness.The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2009, at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Ron Culbertson, the Reverend Landrum Reece, and the Reverend Tom Faucette. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm Thursday, prior to the service in the church's Family Life Center.The family is at the residence.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, 2603 Due West Highway, Belton, SC 29627 or to Belton Parks, 306 Anderson Street, Belton, SC 29627. 'To Him our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ'Be praise and honor and glory.'
