Hazel Carroll Reed, age 91, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at her home. Born February 21, 1930, in Pendleton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Louis Carroll and Sarah Whitlock Carroll. She was married to the late William Rudolph Reed. Hazel was a member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church. Granny Hazel, as everyone knew her, raised not only her children and four of her grandchildren, but many nieces and nephews as well as numerous children in her community. Her home was always open to anyone that needed a place to stay. She loved cooking for everyone that came in her home and Sundays were her favorite day when she would have as many as 40 people at dinner. She is survived by her son, William Fenten; daughter, Linda Norwood (Earl); grandchildren, Jennifer Brown (Russell), Stephen Jones, William Reed, III, Christopher Jones, Jake Reed (Amanda), Joseph Fenten (Roxanne), and Josh Fenten (Brittany); and 13 great grandchildren. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Carroll; and sisters, Janie Dodd and Eunice Estill Carroll. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 2, 2021, at 10:00 am at New Silver Brook Cemetery with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Foundations Home for Children, 2300 Standridge Rd., Anderson, SC 29625. The family will be at 505 Corning St., Anderson, SC.
