Helen Smith Blackwell, age 83, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at North Pointe Assisted Living. Born in Anderson, SC, on February 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Julius T. Smith and the late Clara Stephens Smith. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church. She is survived by her three daughters, Susan B. Yates, Pamela B. Massey, and Jan B. James and her husband Ronnie, all of Anderson; one brother, Fred "Jack" Smith; six grandchildren, Misty, April, Mark, Kevin, Nathan, and Brandon; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcell Louis Blackwell; four sisters and three brothers. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Ronnie James and Reverend Tony Smith officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 3, 2015, at the funeral home, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Pointe Assisted Living, Activities Department, 701 Simpson Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
