Csorey Chabek, age 88 of 207 Williamsburg Road, wife of the late Clarence 'Cal' Chabek, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Lakewood, Ohio on August 15, 1922, Mrs. Chabek was a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Csorey. In 1972, she and her husband moved their business to Anderson, Custom Stamping, Inc, where she was secretary for 30 years retiring as vice president She was an avid traveler. She and her husband were able to travel around the world twice.Helen was a former member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Parish in Lakewood, Ohio where she was a lifetime member of the Rosary Society, and active in the school P.T.U. Organization and the Jednota Association. While living in Anderson, she was a faithful member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, active in the Bereavement Committee, the Hilltoppers and the Woman's Club where in 2002, she was awarded the Irene B. Friend Award for being the 'Woman of the Year.' She graciously gave in honor of the Chabek family 'The Our Lady of Fatima Shrine' to Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include her children: Helen Marie Vanesse of Anderson; John Chabek and his wife, Barbara of Anderson; Patricia Hope and her husband, Malcolm of Scotland; Marilou Horvat and her husband, Larry of Ohio; Skipp Chabek of Florida, Stephen Chabek and his wife, Jennie of Greenville; Glen Chabek and his partner, Michael Owens of Westminster; Herb Chabek and his wife, Melissa of Texas; James Chabek and his wife, Anita of Anderson; a devoted brother, John Csorey of Anderson; sisters, Agnes Gerus of Ohio, Theresa Kappa of Florida and Dorothy Hudak of Ohio. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by son, Michael John Chabek; brothers, Michael and Stephen Csorey; sisters, Anna Schmid and Mary Tracy.The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church conducted by Father James Dubrouillet, Father Aubrey McNeil, OFM and Monsignor Sylvanus Udoidem. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a Rosary Service beginning at 8:00 pm by Monsignor Sylvanus Udoidem.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church School, 1200 Cornelia Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
