Helen Whitten McElrath, 91, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, South Carolina, on May 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. Whitten and the late Iva McKinney Whitten.

She is survived by her children: sons, Steve Snelgrove and Mike Snelgrove; and her daughter, Angela Marie Alexander; and by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Whitten, Cliff Whitten, James Whitten, and Louis Whitten and sisters, Eloise Dutton, Mary Snelgrove and Ruth Campbell.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
