HELEN BURRISS NIXON Helen Ernah Burriss Nixon, age 89, entered her Heavenly home upon her death Saturday, February 7, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on October 24, 1925, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Frank Teuren Burriss and the late Zoe Lee Pruitt Burriss. She was the loving wife of the late John Ross Nixon who passed away in 1977. Mrs. Nixon was a graduate of Anderson Girls' High School. She retired after many years of service at TruTemper and later worked at Carolyn's Children's Shop. Mrs. Nixon was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a faithful and life-long member of Orrville Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Carol N. Campbell and her husband, Jim, and Sherry N. Volrath and her husband, Ray, both of Anderson; five grandchildren, Amy Cox (Tod), Jason Campbell (Shannon), Jonathan Campbell (Amy), Kimberly Pearson (Joey), and Sammy Walker; also surviving are eleven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nixon was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and her husband, John, Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Cyril Burriss, and a sister Beverly Burriss Johnson. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Helen Nixon will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Wendell Bannister officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
