Obituary

Helen May McIntyre Herring Turner, 95 10/12, of Anderson, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House. Born February 26, 1923 in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Sydney and Rudy Lee Anna Ward McIntyre. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, William G. Herring of 50 years and Ellison Lee Turner of 25 years; daughter, Rebecca Suzanne Herring; brothers, Alvin and Carlton McIntyre and sisters, Eva Smith, Grace Campbell, Gladys Webb and Ruby Nell Webb. She was a sales associate for Sears for 45 years and the oldest member of New Prospect Baptist Church. She loved catering and baking cakes. She is survived by her daughter, Hetty Lynne Herring Murphy (Sam); grandchildren, Stephen Pascoe, Suzanne King (Kenny), Jennifer Browning (Wayne), and Rebecca Norris (Shane); 12 great-grandchildren, Philip, Paul, Caleb, and Daniel King, Levi, Jolie Raye, and Troy Pascoe, Caleb and Luke Browning, and Sydney, Mia, and Colby Norris. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30pm Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at New Prospect Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with Rev. Tom Turner, Rev. Marion Davis and Dr. Rod Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Plants will be accepted, and memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at the home of Sam and Lynne Murphy.
