Henry Dwain "Whit" Chamblee, age 92, died peacefully, Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Mr. Whit was married to the love of his life for 59 years, Maureen Shaw Chamblee. He worked for the South Carolina Forestry Commission for over 44 years. He was awarded the Order of the Palmetto by Governor Mark Sanford. Mr. Whit served on the board of the Starr-Iva Water Company for 36 years and was a charter member of the Starr Fire Department where he faithfully served his community for 58 years. He was also a member of the Iva Fire Department. He was a Master Mason at Hermon Lodge 116AFM. He was an honorary member of the Crescent FFA. Mr. Whit was a life-long member of Starr Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was president of his Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers and sisters. Survivors include his beloved wife, Maureen Chamblee; children, Sandy (Rob Burgess) Chamblee, Eddie(Sandra) Loftis Wendy (Tommy) Todd, and Gary (Wanda) Loftis; grandchildren, Shea (Julie) Loftis, Jennifer (David) McCloskey, Scott Loftis, Christie Huffman, Jason (Kristen) Anderson, Jamie (Sarah) Loftis, Cory (Ashley) Anderson, and Ethan Chamblee-Burgess; great-grandchildren, Perry (Raleigh) Loftis, Breanna Loftis, Trent Loftis, Mason and Phillip Anderson, Caitlyn and Drake Ray, Hoke Anderson, Dustie and Blake Been, Dylan Huffman, Olivia (Cameron) Pacheco, Zachary, Jessica, Justin and Austin McCloskey, and Ava and Colt Loftis; and great-great grandchildren, Anthony and Russell. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 22, 2021, from 1:00-3:00 pm at Starr Baptist Church. The funeral service with Masonic Rites and Fireman Honors will follow at 3:30 pm at the church with Rev. Tony Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Starr Baptist Church Cemetery. Masks are recommended but not required. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Starr Fire Department or Hermon Lodge 116AFM.
