Henry Gilbert McMullan, age 91, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Elberton, GA on December 7, 1925, he was the son of the late Clifton Ezra McMullan and the late Clara Sue Stratton McMullan. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Henry worked for Duke Power as a line technician for 37 years and was a member of Union Baptist Church where he served as the Chairman of the Deacons and Sunday School Director. Gilbert was a member of the Iva Lions Club, The American Legion Post #44; he was a Master Mason and belonged to The Iva Lodge #238 AF & AM for 63 years. He is survived by his children, Larry McMullan and his wife Rita, of Iva, SC, Rosalin McMullan, of Iva, SC, and Marlene Harris and her husband Mike, of Anderson, SC; three brothers, Joel McMullan and his wife Ann, Harold McMullan and his wife Margaret, and Dale McMullan, all of Iva, SC; four sisters, Roberta Kelley, of Iva, SC, Geraldine Gentry, of Iva, SC, Betty McAlister, of Honea Path, SC, and Linda Lewis and her husband Austin, of Iva, SC; three grandchildren, Jacob Smith (Shannon), Audra Fiebig (Ty), and Elizabeth Beamer (Tyler); and five great-grandchildren, Aubrianne Smith, Abbigayle Smith, Colette Fiebig, Rose Beamer, and Adaline Beamer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred McGee McMullan; a daughter, Phylis Smith; a sister, Margaret Simpson; and a brother, Horace McMullan. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Mike McMillion and Reverend Danny Burnley officiating. Interment will follow at Iva City Cemetery with Military Honors.
