OBITUARY HENRY B. HEARN III, M.D.April 9, 1924 - March 24, 2007ANDERSON, SCMr. Henry B. Hearn III, M.D. of 1208 East Greenville Street passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the National Health Care Center.Born in Putnam County, Georgia on April 9, 1924 he was a son of the late Henry Branham Hearn, Jr. and Elizabeth Price Knight of Eatonton, Georgia.Dr. Hearn practiced Pediatrics at the Children's Clinic of Anderson, PA for forty years with Dr. Colquitt Sims, Jr. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church where he had formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher and on the Administrative Board. He was a 1947 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and also received his Pediatric training at the University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia. He volunteered for service with the 5th Far East Air Force during the Korean conflict, having been stationed in Nagoya Komaki Airbase, Japan. Dr. Hearn was a member of the Anderson Y.M.C.A. and the American Legion. He was also a charter member of the Anderson School of Theology.Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Parker Hearn of the home and two sons: Dr. Henry B. Hearn, IV and his wife, Nancy Lee Levie and Gary Parker Hearn and his wife, Elizabeth Roberts; one daughter, Mary Jane Hearn-Diseker and her husband, Weldon R. Diseker, III; one grandson, Philip Henry Hearn; four granddaughters: Jillian Lee Hearn, Susanna Parker Hearn, Mary Elizabeth Hearn, and Sarah Parker Hearn; one brother, Dr. Carlton Waller Hearn; three sisters; Frances Jane Hearn, Mary Joyce Gay, and Elizabeth Knight Hemenway.Following a private family committal service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, a Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, March 26, 2007 at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. William R. Childs officiating.The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Parlor of St. John's United Methodist Church.The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 515 South McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29624 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to the charity of one's choice.The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
