HENRY FORD MOON May 1, 1923 - August 26, 2012 Henry Ford Moon, age 89, of 115 First Avenue, Starr, SC died Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Cobb Health Care Center, Comer, GA. Born in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late James Bolar Moon and the late Kate Hammonds Moon and was the widower of Lula Mae Wiles Moon. Mr. Moon retired from Appleton Mills after 15 years of service and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Paoli, GA. He was an avid vegetable gardener and kept his family well supplied with his bountiful harvest. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a friend to all. Survivors include his sons, Wayne Moon (Terri) of Starr; Gerald Moon (Nancy) of Iva; and Edward Moon of Starr; and a daughter, Annette Scott of Starr; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Sally Bowen: and a special granddaughter, reared in the home, Kimberly Goldsmith. In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by his treasured son, Leonard Ray Moon; brothers, Hugh, Charlie, Talmadge, Rufus, James, Vernon and Tom Moon; sisters, Susie Kellam and Viola Moon. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday August 28, 2012, at 3 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Moon officiating. Interment will be held at the Iva City Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 27, 2012, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
