Richard Henry West, age 72, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at his residence. Born in Camden, SC, he was the son of the late Maurice "Brother" West and the late Leila Christmas West. He received an MBA from Harvard University and retired as the Chief Information Officer of Kendall/Palmolive in Massachusetts. Henry was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. Henry was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Gwendolyn Horton West, his sweetheart with whom he married on August 10, 1962. He is survived by their children, Tara West Carter and her husband Don, Scott C. West, Grant S. West and Joanne Gold, Clay W. West and his wife Amanda, and Ami R. West; siblings, Nancy Speaks, Rebecca "Becky" Rush, Alex West, and John West; six grandchildren, Matthew West, Jake Carter and his wife Sarah, Clifton James Wood, III, Rowan West Carter, Henry Michael West, Joseph Richard West; and two great-grandchildren, Isabella Carter and Aiden West Carter. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also predeceased by his brother, Caston West. The Memorial Service will be held at St. Johns United Methodist Church on Friday, February 27, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dan Batson officiating.
