Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Willie D. Mitchell and the late Daisy Howell Mitchell. He was married for 47 years to the late Margaret L. Mitchell.Herb enjoyed automobiles and made his living as an automobile dealer. He loved cars, his children and grandchildren. Herb was the kind of person who never met a stranger. Survivors include 9 children, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Margaret, Herb was predeceased by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Jane Wideman Kimberly, as well as a brother and 2 sisters.The family invites their family and friends to join them Tuesday at 4 PM at the home of Marvin and Kay Mitchell, 105 North Adams Court, Easley, SC.The family will also receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 1 PM until 2:30 PM. A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Mr. Mitchell will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at 3 PM, with Rev. Marvin Wideman, Sr. officiating.
