Herbert Herron Campbell, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in the Flat Rock Community on July 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Ernest Dewitt Campbell, Sr. and the late Mary Ellen Herron Campbell. He was a 1950 graduate of Boy's High School and served honorably for 25 years in the National Guard. Herb worked for more than 39 years at Owens Corning in the Maintenance Department. He was a Past Master and member of the Hermon Masonic Lodge for more than 62 years. During his retirement he worked as a substitute teacher for Anderson School District 3. Herb was a dedicated member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Frances Elizabeth Hall Campbell; his children, Diane Wagner and her husband Paul, of Anderson, Dale Campbell, of Anderson, Donald Campbell, of Starr, Doris Malcolm and her husband Guy, of Anderson, and Deborah Dukes and her husband Danny, of Anderson; nine grandchildren, Jessica P. Rushton and her husband Geoff, Sean Campbell and his wife Caroline, Evan Campbell, Beth Wagner, Daniel Wagner, Dylan Dukes, Dalton Dukes, Morgan Malcolm, and Ryan Malcolm; one great grandson, Wesley Rushton; and a brother, John W. Campbell, Sr., of Starr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Campbell; and a brother, Ernest D. Campbell, Jr. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at Varennes Heights Baptist Church, with Dr. Kirt Mitchell and Reverend Weldon Sellers officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Masonic Rites. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the church, prior to the service on Saturday, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Varennes Heights Baptist Church, Child Development Center, 440 Masters Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29626.
