MCCLELLANFebruary 13, 1927 - September 22, 2007HUNTSVILLE, ALMr. Herbert Harris McClellan, age 80 of Huntsville, AL, formerly of Anderson, SC, departed this life in Birmingham, AL, on Saturday, September 22, 2007. Born in Anderson County on February 13, 1927, Mr. McClellan was a son of the late Van P. McClellan, Sr. and Nellie Mae Prince McClellan. He was a 1944 graduate of Anderson Boy's High and a 1951 graduate of Clemson A&M with a degree in Textile Engineering. He retired from the Ballistic Missile Defense System Command after many years of service with tours of duty on Kwajalein Island in the Pacific Missile Tracking range. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He came from a modest background and continued to live frugally and far below his means and was a seeker and gatherer of facts and data about our world and universe. With the advent of the Internet he enjoyed the wealth of information provided via cyberspace and took full advantage of it. Survivors include two sons, Mark McClellan and his wife Laurie of Birmingham, AL and Ken McClellan of DelMar, CA; former wife, Barbara McClellan of Birmingham, AL; a sister, Etta Mae McClellan Yon of Anderson, SC and a brother, William D. McClellan of Williamston, SC; three grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Van P.
