Hershel Randolph "Randy" Powell passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on April 22, 2026.

Randy was born in Anderson, SC, on November 27, 1934, to Lloyd Turner Powell and Caro Campbell Powell. He graduated from Anderson Boys High School in 1953 and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959, stationed aboard the USS Randolph in the Mediterranean. After his service, Randy attended the University of Georgia, where he graduated from the Terry College of Business in 1963.

Following graduation, he married the love of his life, Linda, and began his career with R.J. Reynolds in Charlotte, NC. Over the course of 32 years, he built a successful career in sales, retiring as a division manager in Fayetteville, NC. After a year of retirement, Randy returned to work with Price-Davis before fully retiring in 2020.

Randy was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. His strength, loyalty, and steady presence were a constant source of comfort to his family. He was a man who loved life and generously gave his time and energy to family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, and his beloved wife, Linda. He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Powell Dascal (Emmanuel) of Charlotte, and his son, Hershel "Shel" Randolph Powell Jr. of Charlotte. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Mary Linda Dascal, Hershel Randolph "Randy" Powell III, and Campbell Overton Dascal.

A graveside visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 2609 Highway 29 N, Anderson, SC 29621.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia in memory of Hershel Randolph "Randy" Powell supporting the future generations of students.
