Heyward Owen Dunn, age 93, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born April 5, 1930, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Leonard Dunn and Bertha Nixon Crisp. He was married for 60 years to Corene Elrod Dunn until her death in 2021. He was also preceded in death by his son, Owen Dunn; daughter, Wanda Dunn Duke; sister, Helen Jefferson; and brother, Dennis Crisp. Heyward was a veteran of the United States Army and formerly worked in the textile industry. He loved his chickens and in his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Heyward's family meant the world to him and he especially loved all of his grandchildren. He was a member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by his daughter, Christy Dunn; son, Keith Dunn; grandchildren, Blake Queen, Brantly Queen, Shelley Dunn, Jessica Dunn, Emily Wallace, Barrett Dunn, and Stefani Schwan; great grandchildren, Camden Queen, Alyssa Schwan, and Alana Schwan; brother, Frankie Crisp; and sister, Norma Jean Whitten. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 25, 2023, from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Dr. Brent Lollis and Rev. Shane Elrod officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, 711 Glenn St., Anderson, SC 29625.
