Marett, age 79, of 2810 Woodridge Drive, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at NHC HealthCare in Anderson.Born in Fair Play, SC on February 19, 1931, Mr. Marett was a son of the late William Paul Marett and Carrie Teasley Marett. He was a graduate of F. B. I. Academy. He retired from the City of Anderson Police Department as a Detective Captain with 31 years of service and retired from the S.C. National Guard, Anderson Unit with 33 years of service. Mr. Marett was a member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Master and served as secretary for many years, he was also a Shriner. He attended Orrville Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 50 years and recently began attending Trinity Springs Church of God. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lillie Coffee Marett of the home; sons, Douglas Marett, Michael Marett and his wife, Pam, all of Anderson, SC, and Mark Marett of Greenville, SC; sister, Hazel Smith of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren, Evan of Anderson, Jonathan, Jacob and Anna Grace of Greenville; brother-in-law, David Coffee and his wife, Jane; sisters-in-law, Rachel Warren and her husband, Clark; Claudia Willis, Ruby Nell Smith and Earline Patterson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Ralph, Wickliffe, and Harold and sisters, Louise Kay and Dorothy Carnes.The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Hayes Riddle and Reverend James Patterson.
