Grant, age 82 of 612 Brogan Avenue, Anderson, SC, husband of the late Frances Elizabeth Campbell Grant, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at NHC Health Care in Anderson, SC.Born in Anderson, SC on April 17, 1923, Mr. Grant was a son of the late Samuel Asa Grant and Fannie Smith Grant. He was a former construction worker and superintendent with Duke Power. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Navy as a combat crewman and of Korea where he served in the special weapons 1st Marine Division. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal with Five Battle Stars. Mr. Grant was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served as deacon and a Sunday School teacher. Survivors include a son, Larry A. Grant and his wife, Carol Wetterman Grant of Anderson, SC; a brother, Dr. Ray Grant of Anderson, SC; two grandchildren, Amy E. Grant, Tracy Grant Taylor and her husband, Chad E. Taylor and two great-grandchildren, Emily Lauren Taylor and Anna Olivia Taylor.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Homer B. Grant, Ralph A. Grant and sisters, Nellie Wooten, Clara Tillotson and Geneva Bannister.A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 11:30 am officiated by Dr. Ray Grant. Interment will follow in New Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, SC with Military Honors.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 from10:00 am to 11:00 am.The family will be at the home of his son, Larry Grant, 614 Brogan Avenue, Anderson, SC.Flowers are optional.
