HOYT BENNETT October 20, 1931 - August 16, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Hoyt Ray Bennett, age 80, husband of Eula Maye Gibby Bennett, of 713 Hebron Church Road, Iva, SC, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at The Rainey Hospice House. Born in Stephens County, GA, he was the son of the late Earl Hall Bennett and Lola Mae Cole Bennett. He graduated from Eastonallee High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Hoyt retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas after 34 years of service. He enjoyed camping and hunting and was an avid golfer. He was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Loretta Merck of Iva and Tony R. Bennett of Iva; brothers, Jimmy Bennett of Richmond, VA, and Howell Scott of Martin, GA; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Earline Veal. The Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Stan Bray and Reverend Tim Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at 3302 Comanche Street, Anderson, SC and will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
