Ida Sue Elrod, 65, of Piedmont, SC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born May 9, 1955, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert F. Elrod, Sr., and the late Harriette Tucker Elrod.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Malinda Lou Elrod, and Frances Ann Mihalik.
She is survived by her brother, Robert F. "Bob" Elrod, Jr. (wife, Marya) of Franklin, TN.
Ida Sue was a unique and special lady with a genuine heart and a sassy sense of humor. She loved to laugh and cut up and make sure all around her were cared for. When someone was sad or hurting, she was quick to offer a hug or a hand squeeze. Ida Sue had an uncanny ability to see how to care for the true needs of those around her. Almost universally, when people who really knew her were asked what they would say about her, they would say she taught them a lot about life. She will be greatly missed!
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the many caregivers that loved Ida Sue so well in their faithful care for her over the years.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery, 620 Powdersville Main, Easley, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ida Sue Elrod's honor to the Special Olympics at https://www.specialolympics.org/get-involved/donate.
