Idelia "Dee" Hayes Dockins, 91, of Greenwood, SC peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Hospice House and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Dee was born in Iva, SC on June 17, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Gus Hayes and the late Annie Elgins Hayes. She was predeceased by her sons, James Michael Dockins and David Marion Dockins; and 14 siblings. She was married to the love of her life, the late Marions S. "Sarge" Dockins. On October 9, 2025, the two lovebirds would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
She was a wonderful seamstress. Dee retired from Bobby Dan Manufacturing and later with Hamrick's. Dee was a shopper and a fashionista. She was very successful at Hamrick's with her love of style and her natural ability to make friends. Dee loved everybody and everybody loved Dee. She was a wonderful friend, a great listener, and never passed judgement on anyone. Dee enjoyed listening to Jimmy Swaggart and gardening in her flowers. Her family, especially her grandkids were her life; she loved them unconditionally. Dee was a charter member of Iva P.H.C. She loved her church and church family.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Michelle Lynn Wiles (Martin): sister, Louise Brooks; grandchildren, Jeremy Dockins, Andrew Dockins (Cortney), Paige Church (Matt), Chrissy Harrison (Devon), Ethan Wiles (Lynsey); great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter, Ashley, Grady, Brody, Ty, Cole, Levi, Colton, Braxton, Silas, Ezra, A.J. and in February, 2026, Maddie; and special friends, Joan Norris, Kathy Detwiler, and Mitzi Smith. .
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 11:00 am at Iva City Cemetery. Pastor Wanda White will officiate. Immediately following the service, the family will greet family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
