Floyd Isaiah "Ike" Childers, age 95, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. He was born April 11, 1926 in Lando, SC, and was a son of the late Rev. John C. Childers and Julia Burns Childers. Ike was a career military man. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He continued his military career with the Air Force Reserves retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. Ike was a member of River of Life Church of God. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Annie Couch Childers; daughter, Terri Childers White of Anderson, SC; son, Dr. Stan Childers (Debbie) of Pooler, GA; grandchildren, Wendi Arms, Christopher White (Toni), and Katie Clayton (Ashley); great grandchildren, Micah Arms, Cameron White, Luci White, Annie White, Caroline Clayton, Kennedy Clayton, and Mary Kate Clayton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Patrick Childers; brothers, Frank, Jake, Raymond, Coley, and J.B. Childers, and sisters, Judy Childers, Lillian Wallace, Nellie Bishop, and Minnie Vanadore. A memorial service with military honors will be held, Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (act.alz.org).
