Jean H. Griffin Anderson, SC Imajean Hanvey Griffin, age 91, of Anderson, passed away peacefully into Heaven on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at her daughter's residence, in Bluffton, SC. Born in Pelzer, SC, on September 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Nina Hanvey and the late Henry Hanvey. She was the devoted wife of the late Jesse L. Griffin for 68 years until his death in 2009. Mrs. Griffin was a graduate of Girl's High in Anderson, SC. She worked as a bookkeeper at Smith's Drug Store. Years later, she worked as a substitute teacher and bus driver at Temple Christian School and Oakwood Christian School. She was affectionately called "Mama Griffin" by all the students. Mrs. Griffin was also employed by Walmart for 15 years and retired in 1999. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church. Her passions in life were her faith in her Savior, loving her family, and taking care of others. She is survived by her children, James Lee Griffin and his wife Connie Russell, of Suwanee, GA, Gary Dean Griffin and his wife Lisa, of Salem, SC, Teresa Griffin Castrinos and her husband, James John, of Bluffton, SC, and William B. Menees and his wife Carol, of Anderson, SC; a sister, Eunice Dawson, of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Jim Griffin, Virginia Moore, Stephanie Phillips, Jesse Castrinos, and Joshua Castrinos, and Ian Tew; great grandchildren, Jake Griffin, Raleigh Phillips, Abby Moore, Ellie Moore, Eva Claire Moore, Samuel Moore, and Connor Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James William Griffin; and a brother, James C. Pruitt. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Eureka Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Fousek officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The family would like to thank Christol Gillespie, Peggy King, and Hospice Care of America, Hilton Head, SC for their dedicated support and loving care.
