Inez Crocker Welborn, age 87, widow of C. Ansel Welborn, and a lifetime resident of Anderson, SC, went to live with her Heavenly Father Saturday, August 19, 2006. She was a daughter of the late Claude Clay Crocker and the late Daisy Evans Crocker.Born in Anderson, SC, on October 13, 1918, Mrs. Welborn was a homemaker and member of North Anderson Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a member of Mimosa Garden Club where she served as Treasurer and ticket chairman of the Candle Light Garden Tour and was awarded a Lifetime membership in the Garden Club of South Carolina. Mrs. Welborn was an associate member of the Anderson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, volunteered as a Pink Lady for five years and was a lifetime member of the Anderson County Humane Society.She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Welborn Evatt and her husband Jim, Anderson, SC; son, Douglas A. Welborn and his wife Joyce, Huntington, WV; sister, Ernestine Crocker Evans, Greenville, SC; grandsons, James E. Evatt, III and his wife Pam, Iva, SC and Justin Ansel Evatt, Enterprise, AL; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Reese Evatt; a dear cousin, Ophelia Wilkes, Lilburn, GA; special friends, Virginia Buchanan and Lorene Thrasher and many other faithful friends too numerous to mention.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Martin Welborn; brother, Claude Martin Crocker and sisters, Willie Mae Dyar and Geraldine Allen.The Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 21, 2006, at 4:00 PM, at North Anderson Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Rigsby officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20, 2006, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at The McDougald Funeral Home.The family will be at the home of her daughter, Phyllis Evatt, 105 Kingshill Dr., Anderson, SC.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Anderson Baptist Church, 2308 N.
