IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ira N. "Bobby"
Baxter
October 26, 1938 – September 9, 2025
Ira Neil "Bobby" Baxter, age 86, of Anderson, SC, husband of the late Joann Hembree Baxter for 63 years, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
His service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Dr. Brent Lollis officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Bobby graduated from Boy's High and then served in the United State Army. He was a tool and die maker by trade for many years. For 56 years, Bobby was a faithful member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, Deacon and youth leader for the Ambassadors for Christ. In years past he was a member of Fishermen for Christ. He loved fishing, not only for bass, but also for lost souls. One of his dear friends, Rev. Bobby Ray Smith, and Bobby conducted prayer vigils. There the power of prayer was felt and witnessed. He taught many boys and young men the power of prayer. Bobby was faithful to his church and his family.
Bobby was never shy about his feelings for Christ, family or friends. He spoke to everyone he met as though he had known them all his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, Papa, Grand-Bobby, and a soldier for his Savior. All that knew him will miss his smiles, laughter and love. Even though our hearts are heavy, we know Bobby is fishing in the ponds of Heaven, and would say, "don't be sad, I've just gone fishing."
In addition to his wife, Joann, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Baxter, Larry Baxter, Rev. Olin Baxter and Grady Baxter; and sisters, Alma Smith, Billie Simpson, and Frances Smith.
He is survived by his two sons, Terry Baxter (Nancy) and Perry Baxter (Runda); grandchildren, Jeremy Baxter (Jessica), Chad Baxter (Katie), Nicholas Baxter, Shavonda Logan and Jerry Davis; and great grandchildren, Evey Kate, Charlie, and Graham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vets Helping Vets Anderson, P.O. Box 265, Anderson, SC 29622.
