Irene Carithers Edmonds, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6th, 2015, at her residence. Born in Anderson, SC, on March 10th, 1921, Mrs. Edmonds was the loving wife of the late Jewell Leroy Edmonds. She was the daughter of the late Lester Carithers and the late Alma Manning Carithers. At the Orr Cotton Mill and Abney Mill she worked as a spinner most of her life. She was a member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Hunter of Anderson, SC; sister, Ella Mae Byrum; brother, Marshall Carithers; a grandchild, Melissa Hunter and great-grandchildren Kimberly and Colin Richardson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, James, Onslow, Lawrence, Calvin, E.D., Grady and Underwood Carithers. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 10th from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. in The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Brent Lollis officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, SC. The family will be at the home of her daughter Theresa at 205 E St., Anderson, 29625.
