Ethel Irene Field, age 96, passed away on Friday, January 8th, 2016.
Born in Toccoa, GA on October, 26th, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Raleigh Lee Singleton and Minerva Ethel Dooley Singleton. She earned her Associates Degree and worked as a bookkeeper at The Salvation Army in Greenville, SC. For 57 years, Irene was the devoted and supportive wife of the late Command Sgt. Major George Haley Field, through his military career. She stood by him and their five children through numerous moves across the country. She was a member of North Anderson Community Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children, Patrick Field (JoAnn) of Dunedin, FL, Paula Rouse (Art) of Key West, FL, Patricia Field, Pam Murrell (Ted) and Peggy Griffin (Stan) both of Anderson, SC; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Philip L. Allison; two brothers and one sister.
A private family service will be held at the The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, January 11th, 2016 with Reverend Dr. Mike Johnson officiating.
