IRENE M. SOMMERVILLE April 26, 1914 - February 26, 2013 ANDERSON, SC Irene Mildred Cochran Sommerville, age 98, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Mt. Vernon, IL, she was the daughter of the late Onnie L. Cochran and the late Ida Mae Williams Cochran. She grew up in Michigan City, Indiana and attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. After graduation she was a missionary in Africa for six years. She met her future husband, Dr. Arthur Carl Sommerville in Paris, France, together they served the Lord as missionaries for over 65 years there. They started the Society of European's Evangelation and also established 15 churches. After returning to the United States, they moved to Anderson, SC and joined Temple Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Maxine McCullough of Florida; and her niece, Judy Withrow of Michigan City, IN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilbur, Onnie, Roy and Lester Cochran and a sister, Anna Cosner. The Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Pearson and Dr. Steve A. Fowler officiating. She will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will be at the home and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
