Brand, age 90, of 107 Perpetual Square died on Sunday, November 16, 2008.Born in Elsworth, Kansas on September 13, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth H. Adee and Beatrice Blythe Adee. Mrs. Brand graduated from Sutherland High School and received a B.A. degree in Home Economics from Kearney State College. She was a retired Educator. In addition, she and her husband were the owners of the Park Motel in Sutherland, Nebraska. While a resident of Nebraska, she was a member of the Women's Club, the Garden Club, and leader of the 4-H Club. Mrs. Brand had a special love for children as she actively participated in housing exchange students and foster children. As a lifelong Methodist, she had formerly served as a member of the W.M.U. and as a Sunday School teacher. In addition, she was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of the Sunshine Club.She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Virgil L. Brand; children: Carolyn L. Budler and husband, Larry Budler of Columbus, NE, Kenneth H. Brand and wife, Alice A. Brand, of Jefferson, GA, Shirley B. Votaw and husband, Jim S. Votaw of Anderson, SC, and Cynthia J. Borron and husband, Michael E. Borron of Anderson, SC; nine grandchildren; and four great grandsons.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brand was preceded in death by three sisters.The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, 2211 North Main Street, Anderson, SC, conducted by the Reverend Phillip E. Stout. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm on Wednesday.The family is at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Votaw, 105 Bayshore Lane, Anderson.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, 233 New Hope Road, Anderson, SC 29626.A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.THE McDOUGALD FUNERAL HOME is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
