"JOHNNY LOVE" CASTRO Ishmael John "Johnny Love" Castro, age 69, of 316 Mar Mac Road, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on July 22, 1944, in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Peter L. and Anna E. Sambolin Castro. Following his graduation from Wallkill Central High School in Wallkill, NY, John proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. In 1968 he married Judy Wilbanks of Whitmire, SC. After moving to Anderson, Johnny Love was employed by C. C. Dickson Company for 32 years. He established the Piedmont Flying Roller Club "PFRC" where he enjoyed raising and competing with his roller pigeons. "Johnny Love" also managed several professional wrestlers and was an owner/promoter of IWA Flashfire Wrestling. Mr. Castro was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include 2 sons, Curtis W. Castro and Shayne Castro (Tonya), both of Anderson; a daughter, Lisa Pate (Russell) of Ravenel, SC; 1 sister, Neecie Post of Marlboro, MA; 4 grandsons, Cadyn and Adyn Castro, and Robert and Richard Pate. A service to celebrate the life of John Castro will be held at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mark Dickson and Pastor Billie Ray Whitfield officiating. Burial will take place on a later date at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery.
