James Rufus Black, Jr. of 15 Sitton Street, La France, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late James Rufus Black and the late Dorothy Josephine Looney Black. Mr. Black retired from La France Industries after thirty years of service. He was a former race car driver at Anderson Motor Speedway. Mr. Black was a talented carpenter and mechanic, a true jack-of-all trades. He attended La France Church of God of Prophecy.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Jackie Gray Black; his children, Mark Black, Keith Black, Dana Bethea and Jason Black and his wife Kelly; eight grandchildren with one expected great-grandchild and his brother Lee Clint "Buddy" Black and his wife Elaine.
Mr. Black was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joseph Black.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Clary and Rev. Tammy Gaines officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Clemson. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 26, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
