Calvin Jordan, age 91, husband of the late Emily Craft Jordan, died Wednesday, October 30, 2008 at the NHC Health Care in Greenville, SC.Born in Anderson, SC on April 6, 1917, Calvin was a son of the late Cleve and Neta Jordan. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Orr Mills after more than 50 years of employment. He was a member of Orrville Baptist Church in Anderson, SC, where he was very active in all aspects of church life until his later years when he was unable to participate. He became blind in his late seventies but handled this handicap like he did everything in life-non-complaining and accepting what God had given him.Calvin was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth West and her husband, John and Joyce Keel and her husband, Ronald, grandsons, David Keel and Chris Keel and his wife, Tami and step-granddaughter, Kim Russell of Charlotte, NC. Six great-grandchildren; Dalton Fowler, Katelin Keel, Ronnie Keel, Cameron Keel, Nicholas Keel and Kelsie Keel.Calvin was a very devoted father and loving husband. He was very independent and hated to be an imposition to anyone. His faith was steadfast and never wavered. Everyone who knew Calvin loved him. He had an engaging smile and was an especially hard worker. He will be sorely missed by his remaining family, especially his girls.In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lena Thackston and brothers, Howard and Fred Jordan.The family is grateful for the loving care provided to him in his last years by the staff of NHC Greenville. The staff of Caris Hospice and NHC provided love, support and strength for our family during his last days. Truly they were angels sent by God to help us bear our loss.A Celebration of his life will be held Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Orrville Baptist Church, South Main Street, Anderson, SC officiated by the Reverend Dr. Wendell Bannister. Interment will follow in Old Silver Brook Cemetery.PAGE TWO OBITUARY: J.
