Jack Sebran Gerrard, age 96, formerly of Gerrard Road, Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Summit Place of Anderson. Born July 16, 1921 in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Joseph Furman Gerrard and Hattie Whitworth Gerrard. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Rogers Gerrard; son, Daniel Gerrard; three brothers, Furman, Glenn and Wade Gerrard; three sisters, Mable Lytle, Frances Dixon and Sarah Trotter. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and a WWII veteran, having served in the United States Navy as a gunner mate. He retired as Chief Magistrate in Anderson County and also farmed all of his life. Jack was a loom fixer for several textile mills in the area. Jack is survived by his sons, Jerry Gerrard (Becky) of Seneca, SC and Bruce Gerrard (Marian) of Anderson, SC; daughter, Jackie Brown (Keith) of Hartwell, GA; brother, Mell Gerrard of Anderson, SC; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11am-Noon Friday, June 1, 2018 New Prospect Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held in the sanctuary at 12:30 pm with Rev. Tom Turner, Missy Rosenkampff, and Chaplain Whitt Breazeale officiating. Burial will follow in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are optional, and memorials can be made to Pruitt Health Care Hospice, 1510 North Fant Street, Anderson, SC 29621 or charity of one's choice. The family will be at their respective homes.
