Jack E. Jones, 90, of Anderson , SC, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at his home. Born on October 24, 1929 in Jacksonville, FL, he was the only child of the late Lester "Jack" Jones and Ethel Mae Edenfield Jones.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a graduate of the University of Florida where he received his undergraduate degree, Masters and PhD. He and his wife established their home in Clemson, SC in 1968. Jack was retired from Clemson University where he was a professor in the Poultry Science Department. During his career, he served as the only Pre-Veterinary advisor in the State of South Carolina. He was an avid flower and shrub gardener and volunteered at the South Carolina Botanical Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine Colee Jones; children, Melania "Lani" Anderson (Kyle), David J. Jones (Alina Castaneda) and Adam T. Jones (Shawna); grandchildren, Ian and Dylan Anderson and Blake Jones.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dennis Whatley; his dear friends, Denzil and Diana Maurice, Patricia First, Thom Deluccia; and all the staff of Hospice of the Upstate and Home Instead Senior Care.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
