Obituary

Jack Wilson Hawkins of Anderson, SC, born December 30, 1932, went home to be with Jesus on September 5, 2021. Surviving are his beloved wife, Bobbie Lou Ellenburg Hawkins (He called her Baby Doll), his two daughters, Jackie Hawkins Jones (Chris), Vickie Sinkel, (Mel), his grandsons, Steven Miles (Julia), Kendall Heath Thompson (Special Friend Kayla), Great Grandson, Ashton Thompson and Jack's brother, Joe Earl Hawkins (Sara). He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Jeff Wilson Hawkins and Corrie Nelson Hawkins. Jack had many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack was a Christian and member of Trinity Springs Church of God. He grew up in Belton, SC, where Jack was an Eagle Scout and avid baseball player for Abney Mill. Jack was a US Navy, Korean War Veteran serving on the USS LST 772. After returning home from the US Navy, Jack enlisted in the US Army. While serving in the Army, Jack traveled all over the world. He was a member of the "Flying Angels," 11th Airborne of the US Army Airborne Division. After serving in the military, Jack became an employee of Belton Light & Power. He retired from Duke Power where he served as a lineman. He lived life to the fullest, both exciting and adventurously. He was quick witted and full of charm. As an avid Gamecock Fan, he always looked forward to Football, Baseball, and Basketball season. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating with his family. He was a member of the Anderson chapter of Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.). Later in life, he enjoyed wildlife and building birdhouses for his family and friends. The Celebration of Jack's life will be at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, SC, on Thursday, September 9, 2021, with Military Honors at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Chris Sustar will be officiating.
