Jackie Saxon Manning, age 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, four days following the death of her husband of 62 years, Jerry Dean Manning. Born March 19, 1939, in Elberton, GA, she was a daughter of the late John Lewis Saxon and Mozelle Payton Saxon. Jackie was a graduate of Anderson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, becoming an x-ray and lab technician for various physician's offices in Anderson and Spartanburg. She and her husband lived for many years in Spartanburg working and raising their family. Jackie was retired from the Spartanburg Health Department. She and Jerry were avid travelers. She enjoyed playing Bridge and their fellowship with friends in Spartanburg. She was a member of the Latimer Lovelies and Latimer United Methodist Church. Jackie loved her family dearly, especially her grandsons. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Lynn Benson (Mark Mullins) and David Manning; grandsons, Jacob Nelson (Daniela), Zachary Nelson (Kristin), and Drew Nelson; sisters, Dorothy McDonald, Betty Jo Edwards, and Phyllis Fleeman; and her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Scott Manning. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 18, 2023, from noon until 1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Dan Fortney and Rev. Tom Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1704 E. Greenville St. #1C, Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at the residence.
