James Dennis Blackwell, age 75, of Anderson, SC, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born September 16, 1948, in Anderson, he was a son of the late J.D. Blackwell and Ruby Rauton Blackwell. He was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Alex Burdette; and granddaughter, Kiersten Burdette.

Dennis was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Michelin after more than 20 years of service to the company. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, and camping. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Green Blackwell; son, Jason Blackwell (Denise) of Honea Path; daughter, Nicole Burdette of Anderson; brother, Bill Blackwell of Anderson; sisters, Cathy Blackwell and Nancy Thomas (Randy) both of Anderson; and grandchildren, Amber Blackwell, Makenzie Blackwell, Ceanna Blackwell, Kaylee Burdette, and Karlee Burdette.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the chapel beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will be private.
